Through the support of the Oklahoma Wheat Commission and the research conducted at the FAPC, the Oklahoma Hard Red Winter Wheat Quality Survey Reports provide an exceptional marketing tool for Oklahoma’s second largest commodity— wheat.

The combination of variety and climatic conditions influences the functionality of wheat, which can be sporadic in Oklahoma. These reports help define this functionality, allowing for a better match to the needs of buyers, thus increasing Oklahoma’s market share.

The reports presented below resulted in strengthened international relationships and increased communication about the type of data most helpful to buyers.

Each year, a team of researchers and graduate students worked hard and quickly to compile grade, non-grade, dough and bread performance, gluten index and wet gluten datas.

The Robert M. Kerr Food & Agricultural Products Center’s strategic plan highlights two important goals:

1. To provide technical and business assistance to value-added agricultural product processors.
2. To develop focused basic research programs to serve the needs and problems of these processors.
   

It is important for FAPC faculty and staff to be aware of the most recent basic scientific, engineering and business knowledge, so they have the ability to provide on-going, technical assistance and address needs and problems of
processors.

The reports ecompass the findings and impacts of the Food Research Initiative Program (FRIP), as well as the Food Extension Initiative Program (FEIP). These programs serve as a source of funding for social, biological and physical scientists to discover, through basic and applied research, solutions to problems and needs that arise with Oklahoma’s agricultural product processors.
